This collection of Ragtime MIDI's is the result of about seven years of downloading MIDI files from the America Online MIDI libraries. Those libraries are all but gone now. They completely purged them and started over due to copyright concerns. Rags, however, are for the most part in the public domain because of their age, so I decided to post the best of what I had collected over the years on my Website so that the brilliant work of some of these MIDI authors could continue to be enjoyed. None of these are my own sequences. I have credited the sequencer of files where the sequencer identified his/her self within the MIDI file itself either in the track data or the markers. I have slightly altered (using Cakewalk Pro for Windows) most of the files in order to conform to a standard LH/RH piano 2-track format and to add chorus and depth controllers that can greatly enhance the sound depending on the listener's sound card and system. A few of them also had some "clinkers" that I fixed. Other than those changes, they remain as they were sequenced. The player used here is the combination of a Perl script that I wrote and a modified Javascript script that I obtained from liveupdate.com. A page listing all of the songs in the playlist with links to their respective filenames can be viewed at http://deckernet.com/midi/rags/files.htm. A Zip file (PKZip 2 format) containing all of the songs in the playlist can be downloaded at http://deckernet.com/midi/rags/zipfiles/ragcoll.zip. PC Windows users can also download a 16-bit self-extracting EXE version of the Zip file at http://deckernet.com/midi/rags/zipfiles/ragcoll.exe. If you're interested, check out my Christmas MIDI page at http://deckernet.com/shed/xmasmidi.htm. Please note that I cannot help with technical problems relating to your sound system, sound card, sound drivers, Web browser, MIDI player/plugin, or MIDI Editor. Thanks for visiting, and enjoy the music!
About This Page
Graphics on this page were hand crafted from scratch and from other graphics by Martha Decker on a Dell 8300 using Corel Photo Paint and Paint Shop Pro. The page itself was created using Hot Dog Pro 7.03 for Windows. If you are interested in using any of my graphics, please send an email to the autoresponder Graphics@deckernet.com for permission. This page was developed on a computer running at 1280x1024 resolution at 65K colors. If you are running at a different resolution or color depth, things might not look as intended. I HIGHLY recommend that you run at least 65K colors. The Web will look dramatically different to you - I guarantee it!
The background tile on this page was derived from a tile I found on the Corel Photo Paint Plus 5 CD.
