Moose Tracks |
This road should go all the way from the Gunflint Trail to the Sawbill Trail and beyond, but it doesn't. Why? See the map below. Where there once was a bridge, now there is none (though I believe that it actually used to be a railroad bridge.) The day we went adventuring down FR 152 for the first time, we were camping at Two Island Lake, and it looked on the map like this road went right through. NOT!! It ends at the ruins of the Pine Trestle Bridge, and we had to drive all the way back to the Gunflint Trail and around the horn (about 30 miles out of the way) to get back to our campsite. Talk about frustrating! You could almost yell to a person at Two Island from the point where 152 ends and they'd hear you! Note: Though we've never fished here, we've seen lots of people fishing in the vicinity of the blown out bridge, so we assume that there's some pretty good fishing. FR 1365 gets mighty narrow as it nears Pine Lake though, so I wouldn't advise driving anything too cumbersome down it. |
