Explore Minnesota White Pine
Lake

WP1_400.JPG
White Pine Lake is supposedly not known for trophy Bluegills, but I guess what people don't know won't hurt them. ;-)  In July 1996 when this photo was taken, some friends and I caught several huge Bluegills here ranging from 8-1/2 inches long to my prize catch of 11 inches long.  That beauty weighed 2 lbs. 4 oz. - pretty darned close to the Minnesota state record at the time of 2 lbs. 13 oz. :-)  Click HERE to see a picture of it.  Wanna know the spot where we caught them?  Hmmmm... now why would I tell you that? ;-)

This is a pretty little lake located a few miles off of the Caribou Trail coming out of Lutsen.  There is a "three holer" free National Forest campground and a halfway decent public boat launch on the lake, and not a whole lot else.  We skinny dipped here, too... what more can I say. ;-)

The photo of the lake was taken with a Honeywell Pentax SP-1000 (Spotmatic) camera using an 80-200mm zoom lens and Kodak Royal Gold 400 film.

The digital image was created by submitting the photo to AOL's Picture Web. It was then converted and retouched using Adobe Photo Deluxe and Paint Shop Pro for Windows.
