Explore Minnesota Lake Superior
Flowers
in the Rocks

ROCKFLWR.JPG
The rocks along Lake Superior's north shore look barren at first glance, but in fact, they are teeming with life! Lichens, mosses, many types of wildflowers, and even trees reside in any cracks and crevices that they can find. This photo is a slide I took in the spring of 1975 of some flowers I found growing in the rocks near the Cascade River. To the best of my ability to use a wildflower book, I believe that these are Upland White Asters.

This photo was taken with a Honeywell Pentax H-2 camera using a regular 50mm lens and Kodachrome 25 slide film.

The digital image was created by having it put on on Photo CD, then converting and retouching it using Corel Photo Paint 5 and Paint Shop Pro for Windows.
