Lava Flows

SUPSHORE.JPG
In Precambrian times, the area that is now northeastern Minnesota was basically a blast furnace. All along the north shore you see the evidence of that in the lava flows that dip into the lake at almost every turn of the shore. This is one of the hundreds of North Shore flows near the mouth of the Cascade River. I took this slide in the spring of 1975 while on a trip with my dad.

This photo was taken with a Honeywell Pentax H-2 camera using a regular 50mm lens and Kodachrome 25 slide film.

The digital image was created by having it put on on Photo CD, then converting and retouching it using Corel Photo Paint 5 and Paint Shop Pro for Windows.
