Because of the angle that Lake Superior has in relation to the sun, it is possible to get both sunrise AND sunset pictures reflecting off of the lake from Minnesota's North Shore. This picture of the sun - looking more like a star due to the way its light refracted through the tree branches - setting on Lake Superior was taken shot in April 1980 just south of the Cascade River State Park.
This photo was taken with a Honeywell Pentax SP-1000 (Spotmatic) camera using an 80-200mm zoom lens and Kodacolor 100 film.
The digital image was created by having it put on on Photo CD, then converting and retouching it using Corel Photo Paint 5 and Paint Shop Pro for Windows.
