- Winston Churchill and Nat King Cole die.
- Record spring flooding occurs in Minnesota.
- Fridley, MN is devastated by a spring tornado.
- The Sound of Music premieres and wins Best Picture.
- The Minnesota Twins lose to Los Angeles in the World Series.
- Richfield Schools close for one of the only snow days in the district's history.
- Richfield Schools' enrollment peaks at 11,311.
- 1978 graduates enter kindergarten.
- 1983/1984 graduates are born.
