- US Supreme Court rules on Roe v. Wade.
- Lyndon Baines Johnson dies.
- Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is designed.
- Skylab, the first American space station, is launched.
- Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly With His Song wins Record of the Year.
- The Sting wins Best Picture.
- The RHS basketball team comes from nowhere and takes second place in the Class AA State Basketball Tournament.
- 1986 graduates enter kindergarten.
- 1991/1992 graduates are born.
