Greetings Class of 1981! In August, 2006, the RHS class of 1981 had their reunion at the Embassy Suites. It was organized by a company in Oklahoma (?!) called "ReunionMakers." Well, it sounds like they took the money and ran. I was personally contacted (I live in Portland, OR!) by someone from RHS asking if I knew anything about that company, since they failed to pay up the hotel charges! Sounds like a scam to me... Their website is now defunct, also. A real shame. So for our next reunion, even though I live out West, I am very happy to coordinate the 30th reunion (in summer of 2011-- wow, sounds like the Space Age) to keep it more "intimate" and personal and cut out the middle man! It was GREAT to see all those former classmates even though it was a small group that actually attended (I think I heard a number like 85 out of 600-something). Let's make it great for our 30th! P.S. Prior to the reunion a friend and I went down memory lane with a drive through Richfield. It was very surreal, and sad for me, too. It has changed SO MUCH. (I haven't been through Richfield for many years since we moved West 10 years ago and my parents retired and moved up north after that). I would have never guessed it was the Richfield of my youth (except for the stretch along 66th from Portland Ave. down to Lyndale I guess, that all looked eerily similar). They say you can't go home again, but I tried anyway. |
