Other: Thought I better update this as I finally have a change to report. I gave up college basketball coaching after 20 years and I am now opening my own business, called the Minnesota School of Basketball in Apple Valley. I am really excited about the adventure of training young athletes interested in the game of basketball. It will be different as I will be teaching both boys and girls. Luckily my 14 year old daughter has given me a lot of advice and has put up with me coaching her for the past 5 years. If you know of anyone South of the River interested, have them e-mail me. Other: This city boy has moved out to the country. I live about an hour North of the cities in East Bethel. I've been happily married for a decade to my lovely wife, Polly. We have a nine-year-old son, Aleksander; also a year-old boxer pup, three cats, and an indeterminate number of pocket gophers which I choose to consider pets, as well.

For the past ten years I've earned my living writing software as a consultant. The internet is my playground. My college years were spent studying classical guitar. I perform infrequently, but keep my chops fresh, and dabble at songwriting for grins. I've coached my son's soccer teams for the past two years; I doubt whether I'll ever escape the soccer league's clutches...I'm hooked!

Other: Greetings to all those kids from the hood. Word! I fled the tundra so long ago, though in some ways it feels like maybe yesterday. I spent to long in college, but eventually walked away with gobs of degrees in Painting, and Art History. I have had a lot of crappy jobs, and not enough that were great. I'm known as a teller of tall tales, and am not afraid to stretch the truth, unless it's weird enough to begin with. I have lived a life that would have killed most mortals, and I have been fortunate enough to meet all my heroes, twice. I still draw everyday, and try to paint often. I play golf a lot, but can't convince ANYONE that I no longer smoke pot. Too many tall tales I guess.

Other: Hows everybody been doin? Hard to beleive its been 20 yrs!! I wont be coming to the reunion but will be in town the last 2 weeks of July visiting my childhood friends Debbie Patrecelli and Dawn Able. Has anyone heard from Maria Chiunka? I moved to Florida in 85 and loved the beaches and parties! Completed my nurses training and moved to KC. I work at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Love the patients and despise the Doctors. Was married for a number of years, emphasis on WAS. No kids. Have discovered like everyone else that life has its ups and downs,but we usually decide how happy we will be! By the way, to all my gymnastics teammates; I can still walk on my hands. Can you? Does anyone know of the wherabouts of any of the 76th St. Singers? Well I hope you will drop me a line.

Other: Howdy all! I'm married to my wonderful wife Pat, and have one daughter who's currently in the Richfield School System. I'm working as a Telecom Engineer for Wells Fargo (nee Norwest).

I'm a bit of a computer geek, but I haven't been bitten too badly! Spend most of my free time golfing, bowling, fishing at the cabin, and camping with friends and family. Also trying to pay back the debt of time my folks spent on my childhood sporting life by coaching my daughter's softball teams, working on the RGSA board of directors, and helping out with basketball, etc.

Haven't been to a reunion since the 5 yr. They always seem to interfere with a party weekend at the cabin!! Oh well. If there's a 25th maybe I'll finally make it.

Other: Hey class of '81 this is great-i just surfed on this site and it's brought back a flood of memories-i haven't been back to MN since i left for The Last Frontier~Alaska, in 1990! So much has happened over my 11yrs in Alaska that my past 'Wonder Years' in Richfield, Minnesota seem so long ago and very far away-hell, i guess they are! ;-)
Presently,(Jan 2001)I'm living as a single parent of a beautiful 13yro daughter on a large(about 22lng x 18wd miles) and beautiful but very remote island off the southeast coast of Alaska called Douglas island; it's just across the bay from Juneau, Alaska, the Capitol of Alaska.
The southeastern 'panhandle' or 'Inside Passage' as it is sometimes called, of Alaska is also known as 'the Banana Belt' of Alaska because of it's mild, temperate climate and is about the size of Florida(600mi x 320w). Only 70,000 people live along this vast isolated stretch of north pacific wilderness coast. There are no roads in or out of this country. You travel through this land by air or by sea. This unique pacific coastal zone harbors the world's largest remaining old growth temperate rainforest; known as the Tongass National Forest-America's largest Nat'l Forest. It is truly one of the most extensive, pristine wilderness areas left in North America.
The cost of living is higher here along the north coast because most consumer goods are shipped up on barges twice a week from Seattle, Wash.
But for any of you living down south of here in the states, to imagine my lifestyle now would be like traveling back in time to the frontier days.
Weather permitting, i spend much of many of my days on the water or in the woods.
I run a string of crab & shrimp pots that i pull and have halibut stakes to check and berries and herbs to pick.
Oh i have some modern comforts: I use an outboard motor and have electricity & phone/internet service and sattelite tv, but i'm surrounded by vast wilderness and the great north pacific ocean.
I need to go over to Juneau for a few groceries like most people but with my subsistance lifestyle we don't need much.
I'm blessed to own a nice, cozy condo right off the beach on Douglas island(pop 2,700) that has a spectacular view of the bay and the Capitol city of Juneau, Alaska(pop about 27,000),over on the the mainland, nestled in the shadows of the tallest coast mtns in the world.

I'm doing some shellfish farming,(oysters, clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp)known as mariculture, and living otherwise a mostly a bygone lifestyle that includes alot of fishing & hunting and gathering in the 'old school' ways that are all but extinct.
I relish moments of kayaking along side killer whales, fishing amongst grizzly bears, horseback riding on the mtn goat trails, camping next to glaciers and the acrobatic dance of a nice steelhead on a light fly in fast water as some of the many ultimate joys that frequently seem to enhance my fairly simple way of life.
I sincerely love the company of the ladies but most of them can't seem to adapt to my lifestyle...
But for me, it's a rare, unique, happy and rewarding life.
And i know i could never leave this way of life or this land.

Other: Hi to all my friends and fellow classmates of 1981! I can't believe technology has came this far to allow us to communicate aross the country. I left MN in 1994, to a open a construction business out here. I got hooked on the fishing and hunting out here and decided to make Idaho's mountains my home. I have caught Steelhead 36 inches long, stalked and shot mountian lions, killed 1200 pound Elk, antelope with a bow and arrow, and many bear - it's awesome, a whole different world out here! I have not taken the big step of marriage yet, but having a lot of fun. Hope everyone is doing great, and hope that someone puts our 20th reunion together. Other: I couldn't wait to leave Minnesota in 1981 and now I pine for it! After going to school in San Diego, I returned to Minneapolis at the end of 1984 and met my husband Steve (Edina, 1975) within months. We've been married 19 years and have an 11-year-old son. I've been away from Minnesota for 16 years (6 in Chicago and 10 in Atlanta) and I still tell everyone I'm from Minnesota. I "retired" from a corporate writing job when my son was born and I thoroughly enjoy motherhood. My son and I are fortunate to spend 7 weeks each summer at our cabin on Lake Vermilion, north of Duluth. I write an article occasionally, volunteer a lot, and play tennis every chance I get.

Other: Sorry I missed the reunion. Todd Vitols just got a hold of me and told me it was a blast. After I finally graduated from High School (it took me a little longer you know), I wandered about collecting various life lessons, eventually going to college and getting a degree in philosophy. I then went to law school and set up a civil rights practice here in Minneapolis. I am also a published writer of fiction and poetry. I just recently landed a job as a writer for a publishing company in Canada that produces biographies. I have two very bright and creative children ages 8 and 6 from a previous marriage.

Update: A benefit was held for Tim Hickman on Saturday, June 1, 2002. Tim is a thalamic stroke victim, and he and his family could use your help.

Those of you that new me in High School, its good to see your names again. I took a little time growing up after school, got mixed up a little during High School for a while but finally grew up. Anyway I am currently living in Charleston, SC working for the Coast Guard the last 18 years. Have spent most of my time on the Gulf Coast where I will retire in a few years. I get back to MN once a year and when I can to see family and just don't recognize it anymore. The home I grew up in is gone and another rebuilt, the 76th Lyndale to Portland Ave messes me up. I am Divorced, 1 son who lives with his mother in MN. I have spent the last 18 years traveling from the Caribbean to the Artic to the Middle East and enjoy the Ocean. I spend my off time fishing, volunteering for community projects, and just other things in general. Other: I missed our twenty year reunion, so here is the update. I went to Mankato State University where I competed in Track and Field and got my undergraduate degree; I worked for a couple of years in Minneapolis; and then moved to New York to go to graduate school at Columbia University. I had a blast living in Manhattan for seven years and then moved to the other coast (Sacramento, California). I was married for ten years, but got divorced four years ago. We have a son Jack, who says he wants to be a hockey player when he grows up. I haven't had time to play a round of golf since my son was born, but life is good. I work full-time in Business Development/Fund Raising for the American Red Cross; and serve on several community boards, so life is pretty hectic. I look forward to seeing everyone at our next reunion. Go Spartans!

Other: Here is a current update since I last wrote. I am married to a great guy, who is also my running partner and we live in Larkspur, California, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. We travel all over for his races and make it back home to Minnesota to visit family and friends. We usually go straight up to Northern Minnesota, to hang out at a cabin on a lake.
I am still a clinical nurse specialist at UCSF in the Neonatal ICU. I am also doing research for the NICU part time and really enjoy being among the babies. We hope to be back for the 25th reunion, no plans set at this time.
Would like to hear from other RHS alumni when you have the time.

Other: Hi everyone-
It's been fun reading what some of you have been up to all these years! I hope more of you write in. What have I been up to? I went off to college in St.Louis and eventually spent my junior year abroad in France. This was just the beginning of many years of adventure(??) overseas. Things finally settled down some in the early 90's. I survived a seven year marriage and have been divorced for quite a while now. I have two great kids who are 16 and 13. I taught highschool while living overseas, and have devoted the last 11 years to the field of early childhood education while running one of the New Horizon Child Care centers. Looking for a change now though, so we'll see what happens. I'm looking forward to the reunion in August, seeing as how I missed the others if there even were any. Other: Just found this page by chance! It was fun to read about everyone. Kurt Seaberg and I married in 1986 have four kids, with our oldest just finishing her freshman year at Winona. I am working as an RN for the Lakeville School District and Kurt is a Painting Superintendant. Life is good! Bob Paulson, Tracy Jacobson and Kurt continue to be hunting buddies and are doing a team triathalon this summer. Take care!

Other: After getting my degree from University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, it took me a while to find my niche. But I now have a wonderful life and love where it takes me day to day. I have been living in Shakopee for almost 11 years now. My husband, Tim and I built a home there in 1999. We have two little boys, Michael who is 3, and Andrew who is 1. I had been working for Bolt Ind (formerly Nybo Mfg) for many years but was layed off last fall. But now I am working for a food broker. Quite the nice perks. Some things stay the same and somethings do change - those pesky gray hairs sneaking in, my first wrinkle - can we really be at the 40+ mark? And yet they are all great cuz that means life is moving forward and I am enjoying it everyday. Hope you are all too!!

Other: So far life after RHS has been an adventure. From 81-87 I was in the Army traveling the world, especially enjoying a 3 year tour in Buedingen Germany. Then I started trying out different occupations, including: Limousine Chauffeur, Apartment Manager, Sandblaster, Camera Salesman, Insurance Agent, then starting a Staffing/PEO business in '94.

After 9-11-2001 I lost several major clients and decided to close my business. So I enrolled in College to pursue a career in Graphic Design and Web Design.

Late last year I finally landed a "Real" contracting job working for Wells Fargo designing Intranet sites. Real Geek work.

On the personal side of life, I finally got married in 2000 to a wonderful person I met through the City Pages. Today we have two healthy boys ages 3 and 5, who keep us very busy. Being in our forties, it is a challeng to keep up with the little guys. Can't wait until the get older and run faster...

Anyway, that's all folks. I would love to hear from anyone that feels like dropping a note. Hope to see you at the 30 year.

Like most parents we keep pretty busy with sports and activities. A couple of years ago I made an occupation change from healthcare managment to the mortgage business,I have been working for Advisor's Mortgage under the management of Jennifer Harazin (Krattenmaker) a class of 81 grad as well. It is great working with one of my best friends from high school. I actually see quite a few Richfield alumni around Bloomington and at work. Other: Since high school I attended Minnesota School of Business for Accounting and Computers. I worked at Wally McCarthy's Olds for a couple of years in the accounting dept. In 1985 I married Mike Reid (class of 1979) and moved to Atlanta, GA. I worked in the accounting office of a large auto dealership and Mike worked in Dekalb County's Public Safety Dept as a paramedic. In 1997 we moved to Eau Claire WI to be closer to family. Mike managed Gold Cross Ambulance Service and was a flight medic with Mayo1, I became a stay at home mom. In 1999 We moved to Maple Lake, MN where Mike Manages Allina's ambulance service for Wright County and as flight medic for Lifelink and I just recently started working part-time for an airplane maintenance shop in Buffalo.

We have two wonderful daughters, 11 and 8. They keep us busy with dance, Girl Scouts, and sports. Mike's hobby is flying. He recently completed building an experimental airplane, a RV-8A. We have taken a few family vacations but they all have involved airshows. I keep busy volunteering at school and playing in a couple of handbell choirs.

Hope this has caught some of you up on my life because I know I am terrible at keeping in touch even though I think of many of often.

Other: Hello Everyone! I stumbled upon this website when I was looking for info on the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Richfield High-It was so much fun to read the bios that are posted. I hope more people submit theirs soon.
I have been a "dedicated" Hennepin County employee for over 16 years now-that doesn't seem possible does it? I have waited on some of you in to do your driver's license and car registration-some of you even knew who I was-bonus points for that. That highschool photography class is really paying off! Mr Nelson would be so proud. It is like a mini reunion every few weeks.
I'd like to say I have travelled the world and had exotic adventures, but as I have already mentioned I work for the County so you would know I was lying. I am looking forward to the upcoming events for the 50th Anniversary and hope to see at least some of you in attendance. Should be a lot of fun.

Other: One year after graduation I joined the Air Force spending the next 5 1/2 years in Colorado & Japan before separating from active duty. After my divorce I came back to MN, joined the Air Force Reserves and started working at Northwest Airlines. I'm still in the A.F. and have 22+ years of active and reserve duty and have been at NWA for almost 17 years. The 25 year reuinon in August will be the first one I'll be able to attend and am looking forward to seeing those friends I lost contact with. - Updated 11 Dec 06 - I wasn't able to make it to the reunion after all. As mentioned above, I'm in the Air Force Reserves and ended up deploying to Baghdad over the summer. I was really bummed that I couldn't make it but hopefully will be there in 2011!

Other: Update: I see some of you already have heard or read about our upcoming 25th Reunion... I hope everyone can come and if other classmates from other years want to attend the more the merrier..

I'm still in IL moved here in 93, my sons our now 20 and 14.. My husband travels alot so sometimes we go with him. So I've been getting to see alot of the US.. We have a condo in Naples, FL and are now starting to enjoy this freedom.. I'm still bowling, I dont have a 300 yet but have close so many times its sad.. My family is still in MN and I come up to visit them often.. I still think of MN as my home its a hard place to forget...

Inclosing I hope we have a great turn out for our 25th Reunion concidering the difficult times we have been through.. If was less then a month after our 20th that 911 happened and changed so lives forever... God bless and safe travel
