- Martha Stewart is convicted of four counts of obstruction of justice.
- Google search engine announces it will offer shares to the public in late 2004.
- New World War II Memorial is dedicated
- More than 500,000 copies of President Clinton's autobiography, My Life, are sold in its first day.
- Fed chairman Alan Greenspan raises key rate from 1.0% to 1.25% for the first time in four years.
- Former Enron chief, Kenneth Lay, is charged by a federal grand jury.
