I had a couple thoughts though, at the 15 year reunion we held it at Hyland park in Bloomington & a lot of people liked that they could bring kids & family along. How about we just throw an informal get together at Augsburg park the next day? That way family & friends coming in from out of state could throw in too! One other thing, there is a 5K & half marathon fun run in Richfield this year called the "Urban Wildland Half Marathon & 5K". Mr. Marcel's Obituary Message posted on Wed, 19 Feb 2003 It was with great sadness that I read about Mr. Marcel's death. What a great guy he was -- inspiring so many RHS students in the RHS musicals. I remember seeing my first RHS musical as an elementary student at Portland elementary thinking "I want to do that one day," and in fact, I DID. It was fun to see "The Music Man" on TV the other night, but they had NOTHING on the RHS version in May of 1981. Russ King rules! Thanks so much, Martha! Loss of Two Richfield High School Teachers Message posted on Wed, 5 Feb 2003 James Earl Marcell Marcell James Earl, age 75, of Golden Valley, on Feb. 1, 2003, of pneumonia following surgery. Born and raised in Mpls., he taught art to at least 2 generations. His career began in 1951 at Lincoln Jr High in Mpls. He later went to Richfield H.S., where he taught until 1985. Jim also had a great love of the theatre which he passed on to many of his students. His first shows were classical dramas, however in 1967 his vision expanded to full-scale musicals. In all, he directed, designed and choreographed 20 musicals. Retirement gave him new time to focus on his great love of acrylic painting, implementing new techniques & ideas. He passed away just 4 months after Betty, his wife of 52 years. Survived by daughters, Lynn & Lise, grandchildren Andrew, Abigail and Michael, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews & family friend Greg.
