Subject: RHS 50th Anniversary Celebration
The RHS 50th Anniversary Celebration will take place in October, 2004. The Richfield School District is committed in making this a great event and I am hearing from people in the Richfield community and RHS Alumni who would like to make this a memorable time. Energy is building.... Events will include a 50 year birthday party on October 11th (50 years to the day that the school opened), Homecoming Football Game on October 15th, an Open House on October 16th and a 'potential' Alumni Event on either Saturday evening or Sunday, October 17th.

On Tuesday, March 23rd there was an initial Steering Committee Kick-Off Meeting. Steering Committee Members included: Superintendent Barbara Devlin; RHS Principal, Jill Johnson; 'RHS at 50' Event Coordinator/Facilitator, Norm Plasch (RHS Class of '72); RHS Athletic Director, Jim Baker; Richfield Chamber President Steve Lindgren (RHS Class of '67) and Richfield Public Schools Foundation Rep, Scott Sharpe (RHS Class of '68).

Subject: Another Richfield Spartan Hall of Fame
Note: This email was received in response to the Hall of Fame posting below
I noticed an individual missing from the Richfield Spartan Hall of Fame and I feel he should be listed not just for his accomplishments but for who he is. I was not a popular person in High School, for whatever reason (you know how High School age kids can be) yet this individual who was extremely popular always made an effort to talk to me and he was always sincere.

His name is Steve Christoff. He graduated in 1976, a hockey star at RHS, U of M, and a gold medallist on the 1980 team. He was drafted and played for the North Stars ending his professional hockey career in 1984 after playing for the Calgary Flames and Los-Angeles Kings. Here is what is said about him at the US Hockey Hall of fame.

Played three seasons under Herb Brooks at the University Of Minnesota and became the third player in Gopher history to break the 30-goal barrier. He tied for fourth in WCHA scoring 1978 with 38 goals and 21 assists for 59 points and was a second team WCHA all-star pick. His overall output of 38 goals and 39 assists led the Gophers in scoring. He was selected in the fifth round by the Minnesota North Stars in 1978 and was voted the Gophers' MVP in the same year. Had a great prep career at Richfield High School he was an all-state and All-American selection and led his team to the state finals in 1976.
